Using your existing modems to monitor your HFC plant

Cinemon is, above all else, a tool to help you run your Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial Cable network. It will detect and warn of most failures in your network, whether they be cable cuts, line noise, lightning strikes or power outages.

Unlike common SNMP monitors, Cinemon is built with a knowledge of how Cable plants operate. Cinemon's model of your network allows it to ignore the common situations where a half-dozen customers turn off their modem, while catching situations where 6 modems go offline on a Line Extender.

Cinemon does not require you to purchase or install costly active-monitored SNMP-enabled power supplies or optical amplifiers. It uses your existing investment in DOCSIS modems to scan your HFC network. If your plant doesn't have sufficient coverage, you can easily install any of your stock of remaindered DOCSIS modems in the far corners of your network to cheaply and easily provide full coverage.

Once you have your system fully described for Cinemon it can provide you with information about the health of your network even down to the line extender level. You can see this information across any piece of your network topology you have described regardless of whether the equipment contains internal monitoring facilities.
